- Give the most important information at the beggining, in the very first sentence. Although it may be tempting to save the best for last, this is not news style.
- Try to include the who, what, where, when, why, and how in your opening sentence (lead).
- Keep sentences short and to the point.
- Don't give your opinions. This is appropriate in opinion essays, but it is considered unprofessional in news-writing.
- Avoid making conclusions. While necessary to an essay, journalists present the facts and leave their readers to draw their own conclusions.
Read this example (from Reuters):
A meteorite streaked across the sky and exploded over central Russia on Friday, raining fireballs over a vast area and causing a shock wave that smashed windows, damaged buildings and injured 1,200 people.
People heading to work in Chelyabinsk heard what sounded like an explosion, saw a bright light and then felt the shock wave, according to a Reuters correspondent in the industrial city 1,500 km (950 miles) east of Moscow.
The fireball, travelling at a speed of 30 km (19 miles) per second according to Russian space agency Roscosmos, had blazed across the horizon, leaving a long white trail that could be seen as far as 200 km (125 miles) away.
Car alarms went off, thousands of windows shattered and mobile phone networks were disrupted. The Interior Ministry said the meteorite explosion, a very rare spectacle, also unleashed a sonic boom.
"I was driving to work, it was quite dark, but it suddenly became as bright as if it were day," said Viktor Prokofiev, 36, a resident of Yekaterinburg in the Urals Mountains.
"I felt like I was blinded by headlights."

Stink bomb in religion class.
ResponderEliminarTwo or three weeks ago, a third hour in religion class, some students threw a stink bomb that exploded in the class leaving an unpleasant odor, causing a complete evacuation of the class.
At first everyone thought it was a malfunction of the computer of a student as the smoke proceeded down that computer. The teacher called other teachers to see what happened and concluded that it was a "fart".
Nemesia teacher was laughing in class and she said: -who did it?- until students evacuated to another class. Students laugh and remember that story as "the mysterious smell."

ResponderEliminarTwo weeks ago the, the days 5, 6 and February 7 million young people supported the call by the Students' Union to defend public education for those seeking to restore the education system of the 50s. A 90% of young people in the 3rd and 4th of ESO, Bachillerato and Vocational supported the 72-hour strike called by our organization across the state in a landslide, and hundreds of thousands took to the streets in more than 120 demonstrations .
Since the beginning of this course, students children of workers have mobilized massively to avoid the worst attack on public education in recent history. The response from students, teachers and parents, and in the first week of fighting that the Students' Union convened in October with 72 hour strike was a tremendous effective show of force.

TOILET STRIKE
ResponderEliminarOne day, two years ago, there was a strike in the school because the director wanted close the toilets with key and only we can to go when the teachers given us the key.
The all students went to meet in the playground shouting that they didn't want this new system.
At the end the students went to the aisle and they broke something like doors, glass, etc.
Finally the toilet doors are close and when some student want go to the toilet, must ask for the teacher if he/she can go.
For this problem, some people was peer mediation classroom but they weren't guilty.
Some people say that this idea was caused by director but other people say that this idea was of all teachers.

STRIKE IN THE IES HELICHE
ResponderEliminarTwo weeks ago there were a students' strike in the High School `Ies Heliche´. Hundreds of students didn't go to class during three days (from Tuesday to Thursday).
This strike was produced because the government is doing many cut backs in the education's area. On Wednesday thousand of students took part in a demonstration in Seville. Also the teachers on Tuesday took part in a demonstration in Olivares in the break's hour.
Our class, 4th compulsory secondary education, signed a paper with the names of the pupils who were going to take part in the strike and they gave the paper to the director. With the strike we lost lots of classes.

"Oh my God, im going to have a terrible cold!" said Rocio, very angry.

The mobile was wet.
ResponderEliminarLast weekend the mobile was wet because it fell on the fountain.
Rosa who had her mobile in her hand was drinking on the fountain and a student where behind she, pushed her into the fountain so the mobile fell on the water.
The student did it because the other day she did the same in the fountain so now they are in peace.
The mobile was very bad. The battery was wet and the screen broke so she had to throw it in the wastepaper.
Now she has got a new mobile and she doesn't drink with it in her hand.

A TEACHER, NICE OR UNFRIENDLY?
ResponderEliminarThe teacher show us an acttitude insuitable for a class in 4th ESO.
Sometimes the pupils are felt offended by her mocks, although others are laughed.
She usually call to her pupils with nicknames or names which they don't like.
For example, one day she called to a girl weird creature and all the students start to smile.
Some students when she made this kind of commentaries, they are shuted up, but others mock her.
A boy put his legs in the back of a chair and she tell him that removes his legs from up of the chair and other boy tell her that he didn't had his legs on, but in the back of the chair. So, he said her she should see 'Barrio Sesamo'.
'She must thinks the things before tell it' Said one student.
