  2. The Rivals
John Pearce was a clever boy who won a lot of prizes. And he, of course, doesn't believe in ghosts. One day the milkman tells John that the house wich his family was, it was an haunted house.

One day, John goes into the garden and sees a pretty girl. He said 'hello to the girl hoping she become his friend. They start talking about the haunted house and she tells him about the ghost that want to drive her out of the house. John thinks that the ghost is the girl's mother and is surprised because he doesn't believe in ghosts. John doesn't believe in her and thinks it's a joke. The ghost says he will be lost if John doesn't believe her. After the ghost dissapearance, the girl dances because the house is all her now and John never saw her again.

In my opinion, I think this story hasn't got an original final. It has got an interesting plot, but it hasn't a final so good. This types of stories are interestings because they are about sobrenatural things, and sobrenatural means difference, people likes difference things not common.

In our oppinion we love all the stories about sinister and this story had been one of them. Was amaizing how the girl became ghost and things like that tha you don´t expect in this stories are nice.

The milkman told him and his family that the house was haunted, but Jhon didn't believe him.

One day he saw a young pretty girl that was playing with a ball.
She said him she was seen a ghost and she asked for help to Jhon, so he offered to stay all night in the haunted room.
When he was in the room at midnight the door was opening and a figure appeared. It was a lady who said she was murdered in her bed in 1872, and also said she will be lost unless Jhon believes in her, but he didn't believe in ghosts.

We don't like the story because it is about ghosts and we don't like them, also we don't believe in them. It is a story without sense and we don't like it.

    OUR OPINION:
In our opinion the "Rivals" is an interesting and exciting story. It's one of the few stories about ghosts that has a credible end, without any human deaths.
In general, we like it because John never stop to believe that ghosts don't exist, even when he sees one of them. Also because when the ghost of Lucy's mother appears he isn't a bad or rude boy, he's polite and nice and he's interested in her, he offers its his help.

Jhon Pearce is a sensible boy and he doesn´t belive in ghosts. One day Jhom and his family was very frightened becouse the milkan told them that the house next door is haunted. Later , Jhon saw a pretty girl dancing in the garden ,as Jhon hasn´t got friends he started to talk with them.
When the midnight arrived, the girl was wearing a white gown spotted with blood . Then Jhon saw her and he still doesn´t believe in ghost and thinks it was a joke. Suddenly the girl started to dance happily because the house is all hers now and she no longer has to obey her mother´s silly rules . Finally the girl thanks Jhon and vanishes. After some time, Jhon was rich but he has never married.

In our opinion is a boring book because we think that this history is for younger people than ours.
